| Focus
Questions 1.
How can Chicago teens build community with college students
and faculty through writing, media and the arts?
2. What is the potential
of poetry, hip-hop arts and new media literacies as tools
for self-expression, education and social justice today?
3. What kinds of multimedia
creations (writing,, paintings, drawings, cartoons, web pages,
audio/video recordings, etc) might we collaborate on to address/debate/reflect/change
pressing issues and problems surrounding life in our communities/neighborhoods?

In this workshop, explore the metaphorical landscape of
language by experimenting with poetry through the use of photography,
found objects and jazz; learn about texture and polyphony by interpreting,
arranging, and performing poems in groups, and craft pieces through
new experiences, site visits, improv games, and discoveries.
